NOT A BILL?

You should have received your 2020 notice of property tax assessment by now. This is the local assessor’s form that says in bold all caps “THIS IS NOT A TAX BILL.” Be sure to review the assessment and verify your property is assessed accurately. Property taxes in Michigan are based on value.  If the value is too high, your taxes are too high.  Also double check that your property is 100% Homestead and that there was “no transfer of ownership.” If those are wrong they must be corrected at the March Board of Review or your taxes could raise dramatically.
