SPRING CLEANING! Because Life Doesn't Stay The Same

When we think of spring cleaning, we usually picture overflowing closets, dusty baseboards, or that junk drawer full of mystery keys. But this season of fresh starts is also the perfect time to clean up something even more important — your estate plan.
Just like your home, your estate plan needs regular upkeep. Life changes — marriages happen, babies are born, kids grow up, people move, relationships shift. If it’s been a few years since you looked at your will, trust, powers of attorney, or beneficiary designations, chances are something could use a refresh. And remember: some of the most important decisions in your plan (like who can make financial or medical choices for you if you're unable) can get outdated quickly if your chosen people are no longer the right fit.
Here’s your spring cleaning checklist for a quick estate plan tune-up:
✅ Review your will or trust — are the people and plans still current?
✅ Update powers of attorney for health care and finances.
✅ Double-check beneficiary designations on retirement accounts, life insurance, and more.
✅ Make sure your documents are easy to find (and that someone you trust knows where they are!).
✅ Add any new digital assets (think: online accounts, cryptocurrency, cloud storage).
Think of this as a seasonal check-in with your future. A little time spent now can save your family a lot of time, stress, and uncertainty down the road. Plus, there’s something incredibly satisfying about knowing your personal and legal affairs are as tidy as your closet (maybe tidier!).
